When it comes to nail shapes, I have always been a total square girl. Ok! I admit, I’m a square in life in general, and I guess my nail shape clearly reflects that.

But I was at the salon last week getting my usual nude shade on my short square nails, until I saw this beautiful young woman getting what I would call “claws.” I was so intrigued by these beautiful long glittery rose gold nails. I wondered how she even did anything throughout her day. I started to think “why can’t I have nails like that?”
Everyone at the salon stopped to compliment them. With that in mind, I got to thinking, maybe I wouldn’t go as far as acrylics but what are our options?
Round or almond seemed like a better fit for my personality type. I also like that you can still keep them fairly short.

If you are super daring, there is something called a “stiletto” which is basically pointy and long. Not recommended if you are changing diapers though!
Ballerina is more like stiletto, but less of a hazard because the end is squared off. These are the nails you probably see all over Instagram and on Khloe Kardashian.
Before you get too excited and head out to change the way your nails have always looked, I have to point out that most men have very strong opinions about this. So please consult with your significant other, or find out your man crush Monday’s preference before any major changes.
