At Marni, one always feels like they walked into an architectural playground. Consuelo Castiglioni unveiled a spring/summer 2015 collection rich in texture, shape and color. Always a master of experimenting with proportions, Castiglioni introduced strong, structural pieces that stand their weight even the summer heat.

The first leg of the collection gave way to pale beige earth tones in bold shapes either in the form of lingerie-inspired bra, a long enveloping coat or a yeo-toned asymmetric dress. It was the shapes, most cinched by the waist by a long black ribbon-like belt. It was the architectural cuts that allowed these rather somber-colored pieces to hold presence against a pale white walled backdrop.

The true punch came in the shape of enlarged floral printed over-sized coats. Colorful graphics took center stage in a great display of feminine silhouettes and intriguing color combinations.

Tying a story together in true Marni fashion, the brand celebrated its 20th anniversaryright after the show with a flower market set-up in Milan’s renowned RotondadellaBesana. The entire fashion scene excitedly flocked to the market to come away with colorful bouquets of exotic flowers and Marni labeled shopping bags. Castiglioni has her devoted fans and reliable ones at that.

Interestingly, some ensembles resembled Samurai outfits with a blanket-inspired top, loose pants, and all perfectly tied together at the waist by a thin white rope. Perhaps this look was Castiglioni’spersonal interpretation of a modern day Marni-clad Karate Kid?

Whatever the game plan, Castiglioni has a knack for the experimental, always in accordance with the Marni touch of course, that has its own language. Undeniably, one can always spot a Marni piece, which in this rapidly paced information age, is the utmost flattery.Congrats to 20 more years Marni becausein hindsight you don’t look and feel a day old.
