Creams Application 101

Most of us know which skincare products work best for our complexion, but do we really know how we should apply them?

Most of us know which skincare products work best for our complexion, but do we really know how we should apply them? Believe it or not, the latter affects their efficiency. The way you apply your creams is just as important as what is in them so, we’ve decided to help you do things right. No worries, you can thank us later!

To let your skin absorb all the treatments and benefit from all the products you apply, you need it to be really clean!
So let’s start. To properly clean your face, start off by using warm water to open up your pores then rub the cleanser on your face using your fingers in big circles on your cheeks and up and across your forehead while going in semi-circle motions on the sides of your nose.

If you’re using an exfoliator, the application is similar to the cleanser’s but you’ll need to tighten up the circles a bit and focus on areas such as your nose and chin and go easy on sensitive areas such as your cheeks. For the water, it’s best to keep it lukewarm.

Now on to the toner! Be generous and apply it onto two dry cotton pads. Starting at the forehead, apply it to the middle and glide outwards. The same applies to your nose and chin.

To get the most out of your serum, you don’t have to massage it into your skin. Pat it using your fingertips, then smooth it out a bit and let your skin absorb it. And hey, be generous with that too!

For your eye cream, some experts say that it’s better to apply it in the morning when your blood flow is more active. So let’s start by suggesting the use of a gel-like formula if you like to apply your eye cream at night. To do so, use the tips of two of your fingers to pat it underneath your eyes and across the top of your brow and gently dab your eyelids.

If you apply oil, spread it across the whole palm of your hand, pat it onto the skin and glide it across the rest of your face.

Unlike oil, moisturizer is applied with the tips of your fingers. Glide and smooth it onto your skin then massage it with a firmer pressure. Move from the middle of your face outward and make sure to do the same with your sunscreen!
