by Mouna Harati

Tightly fitted floor-sweeping gowns dominated the Atelier Versace runway. For spring '15 couture, Donatella Versace wants her women to pack a statement on and off the red carpet.

Beaded swirl-like movements created a beautiful tidal wave effect throughout lean slender silhouettes- giving rise to new definition of "flattering". A paper thin black metallic mesh dress hung so lightly on the model it felt as though it could slip off at any second but despite the sudden rush with danger, it was provokingly eye-catching.

Delicate black lace fused with metallic shiny mesh made a web-like pattern that hugged the body to perfection, accentuating each asset and leaving nothing behind. For every long gown, Donatella offered a mini dress, some poked with fun embroidered shiny motifs that added an element of perhaps unintended fun. Donatella revisited strong primary colors in this collection which provided for a refreshing addition.

All in all, Donatella knows what her women want and she gives it to her clients on a solid gold plate.
