The National Museum of Saudi Arabia is shining like a star in a night sky, as the “Van Cleef & Arpels: Time, Nature, Love” exhibition graces the city – unveiling patrimonial pieces that truly reflect its rich heritage, and celebrating the Kingdom’s progress in its dedication to artistry. To immerse visitors in its unique universe, the High Jewelry Maison highlights its bespoke craftsmanship by showcasing more than 280 marvels, from jewelry to watches and precious objects created since its founding in 1906.

Alongside these pieces from the Van Cleef & Arpels Collection that were carefully selected by Alba Cappellieri, Professor of Jewelry Design at Milan Polytechnic University and President of the Milano Fashion Institute, over 90 archival documents, sketches and gouaché designs paved their way to this dazzling exhibition, as well as the work of international architect designer Johanna Grawunder, who has imagined a scenography that is as immersive as the Maison’s universe. Three sections embodying the notions of Time, Nature and Love – which are themes that were always so dear to Van Cleef & Arpels – take over the space, as a monumental transparent sculpture takes center stage within the Love room and enhances the poetic mystery of this theme.

This exhibition doesn’t end here and goes way beyond what the eye can see, with L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels presented courses, workshops and talks that tackled topics such as “Nature: The Inspiration for Architecture”, “The Secret Language of Flowers” and “The Philosophy Behind Love”, and renowned international speakers giving talks on “Saudi Arabia’s Influence in Local Industry” and “The Secrets of Sentimental Jewels.”

Talking about this engaging and educational experience, General Director of the National Museum of Saudi Arabia Laila Alfaddagh said: “Time, Nature, Love is an exciting collaboration between the National Museum of Saudi Arabia and Van Cleef & Arpels. We’re always seeking new ways to make our collections and content relevant to our audiences and interpret history through a different lens. When the opportunity arose to partner with Van Cleef & Arpels, we immediately knew that this would be something unique and special. They are such a prestigious and respected institution, known for their innovative design and unsurpassed level of craftsmanship. Every piece within this exhibition is carefully curated to reflect the principles of beauty and timeless elegance under the banner of Time, Nature and Love.

This is an exhibition where design excellence and imagination have come together to produce something magical and opulent. I think it complements our museum galleries perfectly by presenting a continuity in the way we have chosen to adorn ourselves throughout time.”
