The Beauty Dr. Answers All - Part 6

What type of hair and skin disorders have you had success treating lately?
For hair, if you have hair shedding, treatments will take a lot of time. Otherwise, if you have a psychological condition like Trichotillomania, when people pick out their hair, this needs to be treated from inside psychologically and no other treatments will help.

With people that have Androgenic Alopecia, which is when people lose their hair because it runs in their family, this is untreatable as well. Otherwise, Alopecia can be treated with a combination of topicals and mesotherapy but will take 3-6 months for results to appear.

Diet plays a huge role in this as well as supplements such as Biotin, Vitamin A and D. Vitamin D deficiency is a huge issue for those of us in the Gulf, therefore it is important to take supplements to help with the wellness of the hair, skin and eyes.

As far as skin, we have many patients with hyper pigmentation. Deep pigmentation, which is called "melasma", can be treated with topical Obaji creams. Results are visible in about a month. Once the patient is treated, it is important for the patient to maintain these results. The pigmentation is eradicated but in order for the patient to maintain the results its preferable to use these creams throughout their lifetime.
