There’s something astonishingly edgy about the London style. It’s both effortlessly hip and beautifully quirky. Irish designer J W Anderson is among those who have managed to master it over the years, and this latest collection was ground-breakingly cool.

The opening look alone was worth a thousand words and yet left the crowd speechless. Pink loose pants, which were bow-tied at the ankle, were paired with a delicate black bra. Could most women pull this look off? Probably not, but the real London girl, like Cara Delevingne, Georgia May Jagger or Suki Waterhouse, would not only pull it off, but would absolutely kill it.

Edwin Haring’s art also made it to the show and squiggled blouses that were hemmed in with puffed out shoulders. Noble ruffles covered a pale pink garb while an electric blue dress was worn with mid-length lace tights.

In the space of five years, we’ve seen Anderson evolve tremendously – but today we witnessed a particular development in this young designer’s career. He, alone, proved to the fashion crowd that the future of British fashion was in safe hands.
