This year, A. Lange & Söhne’s appearance at the third Haute Horlogerie Exhibition in Asia, Watches & Wonders, focuses on the 200th anniversary of the house’s founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange. Once again, new timepieces carefully manufactured by the house are revealed at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
17 February 1815 marks the anniversary of the Dresden watchmaker. Establishing his company in 1845, Lange has set the cornerstone of accurate watchmaking in the German state of Saxony. After World War II, the company was confiscated but in 1990, Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s great-grandson Walter Lange revived the brand to become nowadays one of the world’s finest watch manufactures. Known for its iconic pocket watches, the house produces only a few thousand wristwatches in gold or platinum per year, exclusively supplied with hand-assembled movements.
“He defined the most important distinguishing elements of the Saxon style of watchmaking which can still be found in our modern timepieces,” says Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid. “We look forward to sharing this knowledge with watch connoisseurs in the Asian region on the occasion of the third Watches & Wonders.”
A hub for traditional manufacturing, the Asia-Pacific region is of great importance in what comes to watch culture. Honoring watch enthusiasts and collectors in this region, A. Lange & Söhne unveils four new timepieces in the Hong Kong-based exhibition, held from September 30th till October 3rd.
