Clare Waight Keller injected a cool spirit of youthfulness into Chloe’s spring 2016 collection that struck a nostalgic cord in many of us if not all. It took us back to the carefree days when things felt a lot lighter -when life was stripped of the realistic burdens we face today.
The pieces were fluid and freeing, allowing the models to glide by without feeling encumbered with weight. Sweat pants were revived and made an evening-perfect comeback in beautiful tones of burgundy and rose red, this one perfectly paired with a halter neck tied to the front. Though sporty in nature, sheer overall jumpsuits made an elegant appearance. Loose lace camisole tops lend an innocently fragile note to the collection as for lace transparent dresses in black or white added evening flair.
What ensued, spoke Chloe the most in my opinion. Bohemian prairie-chic pieces followed with such pure intensity it was delight to the sight.
Stripped of seriousness and drenched in liberty, the breezy floor length dresses with paper-thin straps in white and watercolor tones made for a fresh appeal. A burst of color came in the shape of a flowing white dress with long rainbow-colored horizontal strokes along it – a personal favorite.
A printed note placed on every seat read “This season’s collection is a tribute to girls named Kate, Chloe... who embody the liberty and the elegance of a perfectly mastered, an excessively lived simplicity.” What
Keller achieved in this collection was reminding us all that though life may be very serious fashion must not mimic that. Instead, a free soul can only roam in equally as liberating clothing.
