Azzedine Alaïa Launches His First Perfume Ever

Since the 80s, Tunisian-born designer Azzedine Alaïa has played a huge role in the fashion world with his sexy one-of-a-kind dresses. Although his footwear and leather goods encountered a great success, his dress designs have made such an impact in fashion that when a woman refers to her dress, it's not only a dress it’s an “Alaïa".

What does he have in common with French poet Charles Baudelaire? They both glorify a woman's beauty and curves. In the 90s supermodels era, Alaïa expressed through these beauties the celebration of the confident, seductive woman wearing his silhouettes to further enhance their bodies.

Being a perfectionist, Alaïa took his time to create the perfect scent for his first-ever perfume. Just like his dresses, it is almost like a tool used to make a woman feel beautiful and empowered. Meticulously working toward the perfect scent, he took advice from friends and experts to create this long-awaited scent. Modern, classic and mysterious, it is a pure reflection of his designs.

With the help of perfumer Marie Salamagne, a unique scent comes alive, nothing like nothing else on the market. Mixing florals, musk and pepper, they created the complex beauty and essence of the modern-day woman.

Inspired by the designs of his belt collection, he presents to us his first-ever perfume bottle. Martin Szekely used black glass to design the bottle that is reminiscent of Alaïa’s iconic corset. The cap is not an ordinary one and we wouldn't expect anything less. It is an exquisite gold one that looks like a spool of golden thread.

The dress in the ads looks as if the model is wearing his mythical bottle. It embraces every curve of her body, creating a highly seductive black and gold story. It was no accident that he chose blonde beauty Guinevere van Seenus to represent his perfume, since her golden hair is a play on the gold cap.

The long-awaited scent will change the perfume world forever, mysteriously combining hot and cold notes. A burst of femininity with freesias and peonies and musky pink pepper, the Alaïa scent is no less than a dream coming true.
