Nicholas Ghesquière introduced new bag shapes at Louis Vuitton for Spring 2016. The monogram pleated drawstring backpack is one we will certainly be fighting for come spring. Ghesquière, however, was not the only one bringing the ‘90s flare back to the runway; Christopher Bailey had his models sporting black nylon backpacks throughout his Spring 2016 presentation while Celine’s flat two-toned ankles boots played on the era’s grunge sensibilities. Karl Lagerfeld’s translucent PVC and silver platforms at Chanel will be the perfect spring statements heels. Jonathan Anderson also took the see-through material to new heights with a new entirely PVC handbag. As for jewelry, Valentino’s showcased tribal necklaces that will make for the ultimate boho ornaments come spring whereas Prada’s went for ultra modern sculptural shoulder grazing earrings. When it comes to color no one does it quite like the Italians. Fendi’s flamboyant mini handbags mixed texture and embellishment in charming and playful new ways whilst La Dolce Vita inspired printed silk headscarves at Dolce & Gabbana transported us to another era. Alessandro Michele hit us up with a whole new set of must-have mule loafers at Gucci – the one in printed fabric was especially appealing!
