International Designer Award Goes to Alessandro Michele for Gucci

The British Fashion Council will be presenting the 2015 International Designer Award to Alessandro Michele, marking his outstanding triumphs as Gucci’s Creative Director.

Gucci, the Italian fashion and leather goods brand, and more importantly the No.2 fashion house in the global luxury goods market, has seen its success heightened by Michele, who has been in the driver’s seat since January 2015. Not only has he boldly altered Gucci’s outlook, but he has also presented four collections in just nine months, wrapping the whole fashion industry around his finger. Amid the growing number of fashion houses, Gucci is once again in the lead of the fashion competition.

The way Alessandro saw it, merging the historical codes of Gucci with a sparkle of romanticism and modernism, was the unparalleled way to harness creativity. Before he was appointed Creative Director, Michele joined Gucci under the auspices of Tom Ford in 2002, and has since worked there for 13 years.

Shying away from the mainstream, Alessandro Michele made sure Gucci’s designs were reveling in originality and creativity. He also guaranteed that everyone knows Gucci is the best at what it does; his creations and designs definitely take the fashion world by storm and put criticism, if any, to rest once and for all.

Natalie Massenet MBE put this creative director on a high pedestal as well, stating: “Alessandro Michele is a phenomenon at Gucci. His exciting eclectic aesthetic has made an overnight impact on global fashion trends. It is not just that he has made the brand covetable and the product so desirable. He has also reinvigorated the retail experience bringing back playfulness and magic to the flagship store. This is a man who has his customer in his heart and celebrates them."
