This just in: Ancient Greek Sandals, the handcrafted Greek brand and Peter Pilotto, the London-based brand, have teamed up on a creatively exquisite capsule collection for Resort 2016. In a quest to develop a board-game inspired collection, the dynamic design partners Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos found their passion in the Greek footwear brand, which eventually blossomed into an amazing collaboration with AGS, and it’s really, really good!
The collaborating effort unfolds into both architecturally feminine shapes and a bold graphic hand, boasting unparalleled modern elegance. AGS x Peter Pilotto comprises nine frivolous sandals that are essentially part of extremely sophisticated colors and an exceptional artisanal technique.
Keeping in line with Peter Pilotto’s brand identity and Ancient Greek Sandals’ design codes, the latter’s creative director Christina Martini and Pilotto made sure their cooperation was of an intricate drive. Two different worlds coming together and keeping us dreaming about a much-needed Greek Getaway.
“Working with Peter and Christopher on this collaboration was extremely refreshing as I have always wanted to incorporate vibrant, colorful prints into our sandals. I immediately knew that Peter Pilotto would be perfect for this.” said Christina Martini, Ancient Greek Sandals’ Creative Director.
The results are quite charming; chiefly inspired by vintage pinball machines and board games, a hoard of sleek gladiator, flat and wedge styles are overtaken by printed leathers, pop hues of cobalt, orange and lime green vacchetta leather, contrasting black and white designs and lastly, our personal favorite, silicone appliqués, silver metallic square and half-ball rivets adornments.
“It seemed like a really natural fit to us, we really love the way they use traditional techniques and crafts when working with their leather.” stated Creative Director of Peter Pilotto Christopher de Vos.
Peter Pilotto, the brand’s creative director as well, carried on by saying “There is so much love, care and passion that goes in to the design of each sandal and this attention to detail and precision really appealed to us, as we approach our designing in a very similar way. There is a playfulness to their brand that we were really attracted to.”
