Jaeger-LeCoultre Launches New Innovative Timepieces

by Mirella Haddad

Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre's constant quest for innovation has paved a history rich in inventions. The journey of the house’s founder Pierre LeCoultre started when he left Geneva in the 16th century to buy a land in Vallée de Joux, the place where the company’s manufacture is still based.

In 1903, Paris-based Edmond Jaeger challenged the Swiss watch manufacturer to produce the ultra-thin movement he had invented. LeCoultre accepted the challenged and by 1907 designed a collection of ultra-thin pocket watches that included the thinnest the world had ever witnessed. This is when the collaboration between Jaeger and LeCoultre saw the light and led the company to be officially named Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Master of miniaturization, the luxury Swiss house creates new designs each year that embody elegance and refinement at their best. This year was no exception, as two new Jaeger-LeCoultre watches were launched at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2015 (SIHH), reminiscent of the house’s long history of expertise.

In line with the aesthetic that distinguishes the Rendez-Vous collection, Rendez-Vous Moon watch opens a new chapter in the world of ladies’ timepieces. Equipped with a wide moon phase indication, the watch features an automatic movement, a white-gold 39mm-diameter case and a dial both set with a total of 208 diamonds, a satin strap and a double folding buckle.

Mixing between watchmaking expertise and poetry, Rendez-Vous Celestial watch displays the passage of the Northern Hemisphere’s constellations and the months of the year on a one-of-a-kind sky-chart. The case of the watch is made of pink gold and the strap of alligator leather. Its dial is guilloché and its bezel is set with diamonds. In addition to an automatic movement, the timepiece features a star-shaped hand that indicates the time chosen for a future rendezvous.
