Right in the middle of LA’s cultural heart and specifically at The Palladium, Hedi Slimane presented the Saint Laurent Fall 2016 Men and Woman show. Inspired by Slimane’s undying love for the music scene, the Palladium Collection XXII revisits the vintage realm of the fashion scene. And let’s be honest, it was the perfect way to explore what taste married to music can achieve.
Evoking the timeless spirit of Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent, the famed designer concocts a unisex collection with great élan, recreating the historic Rive Gauche prints in ode to 50 years since Saint Laurent Rive Gauche.
Picture 90’s snippets added to a glam rock 70’s feel and there you have it, a Saint Laurent wonder! Male models came out looking emphatically retro with three-piece suits, oversized furs, richly hand-embroidered 80’s-like jackets while female models stunned in midi length dresses and skirts highlighted by a formfitting belt at the waist. Bringing forth the lost age of extravagant proportions – much to the pleasure of David Bowie’s fan club- Slimane introduces a Saint Laurent twist to the silk bows, gold and metallic glam boots and men’s fedoras.
With glitter on their eyelids and mink fur on their garments, models strutted down the runway, passing through front-rowers like Dakota and Elle Fanning. A Palladium Flash? More like a turn-of-the-century Palladium Flash!
