Today, the sensational Spanish label Loewe exhibited its Fall/Winter 2016-2017 Ready-to-Wear collection showing true craftsmanship. Jonathan Anderson delivered that front ever so majestically, putting the emphasis squarely on accessories and leather goods.

Truth to be told, for someone who is widely-acknowledged for all luxury leather goods, Anderson sure knows how to layer clothes in the most sophisticated of ways. Evidently so, models came out harboring a tight chignon- that of a graceful ballerina- and asymmetrical plissé midi skirts paired with layers upon layers of turtlenecks and leather corset, highlighting their slender and feline silhouette. Alongside the layering effect there were fishnet skirts, leather belts, Victorian white dresses, taffeta garnishing, dresses with silver hoops as sleeves, velvet flared pants, tweed ensembles and most importantly, a transparency factor. Leather corsets and total-leather-looks were pouring down the runway, true to the Maison’s know-how and alluding to the designer’s avant-gardism. Perhaps the most intriguing item could have been the comeback of the logo mania on t-shirts, paired with the occasional fur coat- he gets props for that.

Eyes were inevitably drawn to the statement necklaces as they erupted in enormous motifs resting on the model’s torsos. Thinking beyond the Loewe trope, one couldn’t but admire Anderson’s fruitful collection that has long triggered a round of applause and guaranteed approval, blatantly suggesting that with the right accessories, you can conquer the world.
