We see it everywhere, from the runways to the red carpets. Not only is it a hairstyle, it is also the oomph element in a woman’s look. Have you guessed what we’re talking about? Yes, it’s the bangs!
The bang look started with Cleopatra, whose popular image with bangs comes from the 1934 film entitled “Cleopatra”. In the 1920s, bangs were really a thing as women were experimenting with wild fashion and beauty looks. The 50s were all about the baby bangs, like the one that Audrey Hepburn is known for. This trend was interpreted in the 60s in a different way, as it was generally side-swept – and then, the decade witnessed the debut of the pixie cut with barely-there bangs. Fast forward to the 70s, bangs were very long and loose and they kept getting bigger and weirder in the 80s.
Nowadays, the bang accompanies the long bob cut; think Taylor Swift, Emma Stone and other celebrities. It’s a statement-making element that turns the whole look upside-down. Now that you have the background, and since the weather is getting colder as we bid adieu to the hot summer days, maybe it’s time you considered rocking some bangs.
