To be recognised as a Manufacture, a watch company must produce at least one “in-house” mechanical movement and Chopard’s co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele started to get inspired by this idea in the mid-1990s. In his quest for reviving the watchmaking heritage of the company, he undertook the creation of Chopard Manufacture in the 1996.
To achieve his goal, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele visited Fleurier – the land of watchmaking since the 18th century – for the first time and was determined to revive it from the “quartz watch crisis” in order to develop an exceptional in-house movement worthy of the high demands of Chopard’s international clientele. After 2 years of research, Fleurier witnessed the birth of a star; it was Chopard’s self-winding movement renamed L.U.C 96.01 L in tribute to the company founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard.
On October 25th, Chopard Manufacture celebrated its 20th anniversary, as Chopard and its partner Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons welcomed gentlemen and watch aficionados to pay tribute to the Maison’s expertise in blending art and time in unique timepieces. Held at the Little Black Door lounge club in Dubai, the event offered guests the opportunity to understand the journey of Chopard and to discover the latest Chopard L.U.C timepieces launched in 2016, such as the L.U.C XPS 1860 or the L.U.C Perpetual Chrono along with key models of the collection.
