After the launch of its ladies’ collection in 2006, the house of Parmigiani Fleurier began their ‘Woman of Exception’ discovery journey. The project recognizes women from around the world for their devotion in different fields like science, medicine, business, sport, art and culture. The women chosen are honored for their selfless, creative and independent spirit allowing them to achieve high levels of success.
Regardless of their status, fortune and fame, Parmigiani Fleurier honors these distinguished women and their accomplishments and welcomes this year art dealer, independent curator and founder of Professional Organization of Women in the Arts (POWarts), Sara Kay, as the brand’s new Woman of Exception.
Daughter to an artist mother, Sara Kay has spent countless hours at the Guggenheim Museum during her childhood. Kay was at first interested in architecture, but developed a passion for art to become a drawing specialist. After five years at Christie’s, she started working with famed art dealer Jan Krugier and managed the Fine Art division of his New York-based gallery. After her New York stint, Kay moved to London where she appointed Sales Director for the renowned White Cube gallery for contemporary art. Today, Kay owns businesses that represents contemporary artists, helps curate exhibitions and manages the sale of historic artwork privately.
For the special occasion, Sara Kay chose to wear the Tonda 1950 watch set with mother-of-pearl. Combining the sophisticated grace of pink gold with a dazzling diamond bezel and mother-of-pearl dial, this timepiece perfectly exemplifies Kay’s creative spirit.
“I am truly honored to be among such an outstanding group of women recognized by Parmigiani Fleurier. Much like my own background, rooted in the unique tradition of restoration and a belief in the highest level of production and aesthetic, Parmigiani speaks true to my heart. I share this award with fellow members of the Professional Organization of Women in the Arts, POWarts,” said Sarah Kay.
