CHANEL unveils its Métiers d’Art 2026 collection with a vivid homage to New York City’s iconic subway: its great equalizer and endlessly shifting stage. Artistic Director Matthieu Blazy draws inspiration from the diverse characters who fill the trains daily, describing them as heroes of their own stories. This setting becomes the House’s own “sub(way)-culture,” rooted in Gabrielle Chanel’s 1931 encounters with New York. The collection honors the city that helped reaffirm the brand’s global, democratic appeal.

Blazy’s debut Métiers d’Art collection unfolds like a film, showcasing a colorful cast: socialites, superheroes, teens, working women, showgirls and even Coco Chanel herself. Spanning eras from the 1920s to the 2020s, it blends Art Deco glamour with modern ease to craft a playful, chic love story between Paris and New York.

The pieces spotlight inventive craftsmanship: from “lingerie denim” with intricate embroidery to reimagined flapper silhouettes adorned with feathered details. As for the accessories, they carry hidden meanings, including minaudières shaped like oysters and apples, crafted alongside shimmering jewelry crafted by the goldsmiths of Goossens. Leopard tweeds, hand-painted silks and Art Deco fish motifs further celebrate exceptional artistry.
