"ClairObscur", the Winter 26 women’s and men’s collection from Balenciaga, created by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, draws inspiration from the High Renaissance artistic technique of clair-obscur, exploring the tension between darkness and light. Through this contrast, the collection searches for new dimensions of volume, form and meaning.

Light is defined by shadow, while darkness is relieved by light. This interplay becomes a metaphor for the human condition, expressed through garments that evoke portraits of people. Embroideries capture fleeting clair-obscur effects on dresses and the Midnight City bag, while ombré shades illuminate the D’Orsay sneakers. Spontaneous draperies pause against the body, and shoes created with J.M. Weston twist around the foot. The HG Avenue bag reflects movement and the passage of time, while the George Bag introduces a new Balenciaga emblem shaped by space within. The color palette carries a phosphorescent intensity, with radiant hues emerging from shadow to express emotion, strength and a powerful sense of light – including red, purple, green and electric tones.

Using supple leather, cashmere, silk and sequins, the collection reflects and absorbs light. Modern silhouettes, vivid colors and diverse generations walking together form a living fresco of humanity.
