It’s in 1995 that the Lady Dior bag came to life, boasting an exceptional, iconic and inspired by Haute Couture design. Shortly after Princess Diana took it under her wing, the lavish accessory became a pièce de rigueur.
The Lady Dior bag is a nod to the House’s seventy-year history, mending the bridge between the time of its inception and the present. Picture the staple cannage stitching, the padded leather cushions, the mirrored facets and the charms made with a layer of fine silver or gold – all of which embody its devotion to the House’s legacy of femininity and sophistication. And so, last year, the iconic accessory was subject to a unique artistic re-envisioning, as a slew of British and American artists reimagined it with a limited-edition run. This time around, the House invited ten celebrated artists from around the world to reinterpret the iconic bag, from Lee Bul to John Giorno, Hong Hao, Friedrich Kunath, Namsa Leuba, Betty Mariani, Jamilla Okubo, Jack Pierson, Spencer Sweeney and David Wiseman. With a carte blanche in hand, the artists are hence encouraged to reflect their ingenuity unto Dior’s fine craftsmanship. The endeavor translates into a unique vision that transforms into an exceptional bag. An imagination that blooms into a state-of-the-art accessory. Everything from the bag’s fabric down to its charms to its size, color, jewelry, handles, and stitching is subject to a revamping!
The exquisite pieces are available at the House’s boutique in the Dubai Mall, alongside selected boutiques worldwide. In the meantime, sift through the Photo Gallery below to have a closer look!
