Creativity is extremely important for a jewelry house that took the chance on breaking the rules and defined contemporary designs in its own special way. That’s what the Italian jewelry house, Repossi did, and continues to do so with total ingenuity.

Founded in 1920 in the Italian city of Turin, the House of Repossi began passing on its creative legacy in the world of jewelry. From father to son then from father to daughter, the passion for creating modern pieces grew stronger. It all started post war, after Costantino Repossi finished his studies in industrial design. He opened the first Repossi store in Turin, when Italy was witnessing a fervent progression into a new modernist era. Since then, he was renowned for his Art Deco and Avant-Garde collections – which were a pure blend of artistry and technicalities. Later on, his son Alberto started designing his own pieces and turned the house into an international brand – opening his first Monte Carlo flagship store in 1979, followed by the Paris store in 1986, the year his daughter Gaia was born.

Although she chose an artistic path far from thee industry, Gaia Repossi was appointed creative director of the brand at the age of 21. She opened a new chapter in the history of Repossi and radically changed its creative direction. Challenging the traditional rules of jewelry making, she created groundbreaking pieces that emphasize a new architectural point of view.

“I shared a very creative passion for jewelry with my father. We used to draw things together and I would watch him create these collections, so I've always been artistic since childhood. I wanted to keep our unique identity in the industry but with bringing modernity, timelessness, and somehow we created a new language in the jewelry world with our ear cuffs, the stacked rings, etc.”, she said.

Even though Repossi constantly defines modernity in swooning jewelry pieces that speak to every contemporary woman, that doesn’t mean the creations are not elegant. About that, Gaia says: “I think it’s all about respecting balance, proportions of women, and also including a little bit of twist.”

One of Repossi’s most renowned collections is Antifer, a collection that captures the values and aesthetics of the brand in wearable jewelry pieces. About this signature collection, Gaia explains: “The name of this collection came after taking a trip to see the Cap d’Antifer near Etretat.  It’s stunning out there, a surreal and aggressive landscape. The collection was already in the works but the inspiration actually came from a more Japanese shape for the single row and in reference as well to the Dover Street Market’s drawing of their logo.”
