This season, the great Elie Saab surprised the entire fashion industry. Yes, his show did indeed include the usual stunning lace gowns, sequins and feminine looks, but there was something hipper and perhaps even younger about this collection.

For summer, the Lebanese designer pulled back on red carpet looks and instead presented more wearable playful options. Bright electrifying tints guided the line, which was full of outfits that could actually be worn during the day – a first in the history of Saab. Were his ladies getting a lifestyle change?

Petite floral dresses were paired with knee-high gladiator sandals and white sport-chic embroidered looks were embellished with a bow tie. Gigi Hadid followed in an electric purple lace dress and its matching sporty bomber jacket. Now that’s something I never thought I’d say, in regards to an Elie Saab show.

Our favorite look of the season had to be the piano-striped blazer paired with its matching shorts and floral shirt, and worn with simple metallic sandals. Something we look forward to seeing around Beirut next summer. Scratch that. We'll be wearing it ourselves.
