The fashion industry’s round of musical chairs continues to turn once again. Alber Elbaz announced last night that he would be stepping down from Lanvin, a house he helped reignite for 14 years. As speculation runs wild, with Raf Simons resigning from Dior last week, rumors have it that Elbaz could be considered one of the forerunners for Dior, amongst a selection of other notable designers.
For more than a decade, Elbaz fuelled Lanvin with just the right energy and aesthetic the dubbed “sleeping beauty” needed. He injected his fashion know-how with passion and zeal, hence restoring the French luxury house back to its past glory. His unique vision and approach helped propel collections that relayed Jeanne Lanvin’s signature design codes into modern coveted pieces that held a character of their own. Elbaz’s chapter at Lanvin will be sorely missed, as it appeared a perfect match, one in which both parties benefitted from a common alignment, so much so, that the designer had become intrinsically the brand itself. When one door closes another opens and surely Elbaz will walk into his next chapter with the same amount of love, vision and modesty.
To capture Elbaz’s creative and inspiring work at Lanvin we’ve selected the looks that left a lasting impression.
