A flow of exits and entries has left its mark on the fashion scene this year. Indeed, 2015 has been quite remarkable in terms of fashion changes, as quintessential designers have stepped down from their positions, while others have entered the kingdom of creative directors. This substantial flow has nonetheless created a buzz during the past year, giving the sartorial world of fashion a new helm.
So here’s the breakdown: Lanvin has seen the last vestiges of Alber Elbaz’s genius works, as the latter marked his departure from the fashion house. Raf Simons has exited the Dior world and has resigned from his title as Creative Director and Alexander Wang has departed the luxury fashion house Balenciaga after three years of owning the title of Creative director. And that’s not all, as Donna Karan has also stepped down from Donna Karan New York, the LVMH-owned company, while staying on in an advisory role and finally, the famed designer Ralph Lauren has left his CEO position at the fashion house empire.
But don’t worry, we come baring good news as well, as the Belgian-Italian designer Anthony Vaccarello was appointed Versus’ creative director, while Alessandro Michele was named creative director at Gucci.
