After much speculation, it has been confirmed that Marc by Marc Jacobs will be discontinued and defused into the main line. Marc Jacobs told WWD, "we're starting at the beginning…a very good place to start." In order to preserve the uniqueness of the brand, Jacobs further added that it was important "to do it under one label" and stressed that, nonetheless, he has "absolutely enjoyed the last few seasons of the Marc by Marc Jacobs' young, cool, hip shows," that was under the direction of designers Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley.  
 
Marc By Marc Jacobs originated with the idea "to make incredible fashion available to people on different levels." At first, attention was focused on driving accessory sales with a direct link to the main Marc Jacobs line. However gradually, MBMJ started having an identity of its own and no longer was tied to the main collection. In recent years, MBMJ has been facing difficulty in successfully driving through a desirable brand. As a result, merging both together seems like the only plausible solution for the company to reinforce the main line and brand itself. One thing is certain, MBMJ's playful, flirty baby doll dresses will be missed!
