It’s a sad week for the fashion world, as designer Anthony Vaccarello steps out of Versus Versace, much to the brand’s dismay. Following Hedi Slimane’s departure from the luxurious brand Saint Laurent, Vaccarello will be taking his place as the new Creative Director. One couldn’t but deny the obvious liaison between the designer and the brand, given that Vaccarello’s sexy-meets masculine appeal is all too Saint Laurent.
The Belgian prodigy who has long baffled the fashion scene with his sultry high-slit skirts and dresses will now be bringing his fiery touch to Saint Laurent and we can’t wait to witness the personal twist he’ll be granting the brand with!
Donatella Versace commented on the sad departure: “While I’m sad to see him leave the Versace family, I wish Anthony Vaccarello tremendous success with his next chapter. In the past several years, I have worked with three great young talents on Versus Versace: Christopher Kane, JW Anderson and Anthony Vaccarello. In each instance, their time on Versus Versace led to them making a huge advancement in their design career. I appreciated the chance to work with each of these three designers, and I enjoyed seeing what they brought to a brand I truly love. I’m proud that Versus can be such a remarkable global platform for emerging design talent. As for the future, I’m most excited about taking on a bigger role with Versus, and doing what I always do – surprising everybody!”
