Ramadan is finally here and designers have introduced, one after the other, a slew of their specially-made collections for the much-anticipated four-week period.
But perhaps one of the greatest designers of this region might just be the sensational duo Lubna and Nadia Al Zakwani, whose tasteful Omani roots have taken them to extremes. In 2010, the two sisters ventured into their first professional foray that is fashion, incorporating ever so-glamorously their native roots into their designs. Their collections are seemingly characterized by fluidity and difference, and this year’s Ramadan collection is nothing short of a Middle-Eastern masterpiece.
Picture Arabian bedouin jewelry altered into abayas, kaftans and dresses. Picture textures and embellishments blended into one austere canvas, and you’ll see right before your eyes Endemage’s lavish designs.
Constantly turning to the past for innovation, the two sisters have projected their irreverent taste into a merciful canvas of glamorous designs, perfect for all Ramadan gatherings. Long abayas, off-the-shoulder midi dresses, moon-shaped embroidered kaftans, delicate scarves, satin garments, leaves patterns, gaucho pants mixed-and-matched with ruffled blouses and a ravishing pasty color palette; this is just a glimpse of Endemage’s blatant ingenuity!
“The Ramadan collection was inspired by Arabian Bedouin jewelry. We added the mirrors to give it a more festive feel – something that is used by many cultures in Oman. The pieces are elegant yet comfortable and conservative for the Holy Month. It’s a season with a lot of family gatherings so we want women to look glamorous without showing off too much” - Endemage
