People love a good, solid collection. The fashion scene yearns to see the hidden ingenuity that lies behind pieces and is utterly fascinated by modern takes on folklore designs.
There are a plethora of fashion designers in the Gulf who have made it BIG and perhaps one of the greatest amongst them is Emirati Abaya designer Huda Al Nuaimi. Born to an English mother and an Emirati father, Huda took the leap to start a prosperous career in fashion and graduated from the London College of Fashion. Specializing in Abaya design, her pieces are gorgeously minimalistic and illustrate the portrait of a femme fatale, one whose vision is a playful twist between gothic and refined.

She’s been in the business for several years now and her 2016 Ramadan collection is that of untamable free spirit with a much-needed modernistic allure, featuring luxe textiles with romantic ruffles and elegant shapes. Al Nuaimi reworked past themes in such a delicate way, she gave them a truly-earned contemporary spin. By adding lace knit details and floral patterns, she embodied all the writhing qualities in a woman, and it worked like a charm. There were maxi dresses and midi dresses, all of which were tamed with three quarter length sleeves borrowed from the exquisite Victorian aesthetic. Her menagerie of preppy florals made a template for a romantic color palette, with colors skewing from pasty blues to chic Bordeaux and romantic white lace.
