French-Algerian designer Faiza Bouguessa brings back fond memories of the joyous desert, where colors seem to mindlessly mingle with shades of Arabian nights.

But let’s rewind a bit and take a quick look at the designer’s tumultuous career. She single-handedly taught herself the art of designing and harnessed her passion into an exceptional reality, that of sheer success and certified taste.

Ever since she transformed her love for Abayas into her own personalized designs, Bouguessa has given these sumptuous attires a whole new meaning. Long gone were the simplistic and standard Abayas, as she delicately incorporated her own special touch, right along the lines of artistic movements and bright colors.

Her Cruise/Ramadan 2016 collection – which is yet another vivid success- could just be this season’s big hit. Picture voluptuous Abayas and Kaftans, luxuriously embellished with an exceptional draping technique and a unique metallic fabric for a much-needed mirror effect. Come to think of it, the well-established designer drew inspiration from modern architecture, instilling a futuristic sense into her newest line.

“For my Cruise/Ramadan 2016 collection, I explored a new trend in modern architecture and Contemporary Art that consists of using large glass mirrored installation or buildings to create outstanding optical illusions. I researched the work of Artists like Eleanor Raymond, Ekkehard Altenburger and Anish Kapoor to try and understand how to translate the trend in my work.”

Not many people can pull off doing the unimaginable to classic garments, let alone to the chef d’oeuvre that is the Abaya, but the fabled Bouguessa reigned as the queen of our hearts and is now paving the way for designers who want to stand out! Her Cruise/Ramadan 2016 collection is living proof that bringing a modernistic approach to a traditional garment is nothing short of a masterminded approach to fashion and well, life.

“With this inspiration in mind, I examined the fundamentals of my core design through Geometric Cuts, Sharp lines, and added contemporary metallic tones that complimented a neutral color palette.
