Ulyana Sergeenko's native Russia is a constant reference point to her collections. For Couture Fall 2016 she took inspiration from her favourite Soviet era, black and white movies. The show was held in a mirrored hall of Paris's Galerie de Minérologie et de Géologie and was based on exciting contrasts: austere shapes juxtaposed with opulent glitter details and textured fabrics and embroidered furs. There was a seamless fluid flow from day to night. Think perfect pieces for the modern power-woman's work wardrobe like a below-the-knee black dress with cut-out-neck detail, a tan crocodile skin briefcase handbag, Christian Louboutin patent flats, a snakeskin trench and jewel toned lurex knit tops. Wide leg fluid trousers moved from day to night whilst lurex jumpsuits and floor sweeping body-skimming gowns made a subtle statement for evening. The short sharp bowl cut hairstyles, quirky biker helmets and oversized sunglasses gave a retro city slick edge.
