16 Ways to Look Slimmer

A word of warning: if you’re already doubting our skills to help you look thinner, then this article is not for you. Skepticism is not allowed here!

We’ve all been through the same annoying dilemma: we want to drop 20 pounds in 20 seconds, but we still want to eat that delicious piece of chocolate pie that has been making googly eyes at us all day long! Yes, the struggle is real. But fear not, pretty ladies! Luckily so, fashion experts have found infinite ways to make you look dashingly slimmer, simply by adapting your clothes to your body shape. In other words, the only motto you should stick to is: dress to impress!

  1. First thing’s first, throw out all of your bras and find one that doesn’t bulk up your silhouette and isn’t too tight. A wrong size band and small cups are a big No-no.
  2. Make sure you buy the right size of clothes. If they’re too tight, they will definitely highlight the areas you’re trying to hide and if they’re too big, they’ll bulk up your silhouette even more.
  3. Always introduce a hint of black to your outfit. Known for its slimming effect, this particular color will bring a bit of chicness to your allure and beautifully flatter you whole look.
  4. When trying on shoes, always go for stilettos, as the long and thin high-heel will automatically give the illusion of a slimmer body. But whatever you do, avoid shoes with ankle straps, as they bring massiveness to your ankles.
  5. Show some skin with a V-neck top, as to bring balance to your silhouette. It’s also a wonderful way to look ever-so elegant and lady-like.
  6. Pick one color and stick to it. It’s another great way to create a unified vertical line, because no matter what they say, a monochromatic look can make you look taller and thinner. Take our word for it!
  7. Match the shoe color to your leg, as to elongate your silhouette a create a recurrent pattern.
  8. Opt for dark-wash denims, with a boot cut or straight leg shapes. And please, do let go of unnecessary embellishments!
  9. Wear an open blazer with a V-neck tank top, as to hide excessive curves.
  10. Choose your fabrics wisely. The materials to wear: cotton, silk, denim, cashmere and spandex. The materials to avoid: metallic, satin, taffeta and fringes.
  11. Add bold colors and patterns to the areas of your body you’re trying to highlight, and keep the darker colors to hide your flawed areas.
  12. Wear vertical lines or stripes to lengthen your bust.
  13. Wear flared pants to draw attention away from your hips.
  14. Wear A-line skirts and dresses or the ever-so flattering knee-length pencil skirts.
  15. Use a belt to slender your waist and create a flattering silhouette.
  16. And the all-time classic trick: Wear all back. No, it’s not a urban legend, it’s absolutely and irrevocably true.
