Let’s be honest here, most of us ladies love fur (be it real or faux). Fur adds just enough of spice to an all-too regular outfit and gives us that little je ne sais quoi. The trend is also a treat for the eyes and a certified way to keep us, fragile humans, from freezing to death! That’s not the issue. The problem is, many of us forget that this trend is already too showy as it is, and it just needs to be combined with a classic look in order to fulfill its lavish purpose.
With time, we have noticed many celebrities doing fashion faux-pas while wearing fur, so much so that they could have been mistaken for Cruella Deville! But since we don’t want you to pull a Cruella, it seems only fitting that we give you a bit of insight on the do’s and don’ts of wearing fur. One thing we’ve learned is that it all comes down to how you style it!
Do pick a colored fur jacket as to revert the attention to its color.
Don’t go overboard, keep it very classic and dress the fur down. Meaning, simple dress, skirt or pants.
If you’re not into fur coats, then do opt for a fur gilet over a solid top. Discrete but very stylish!
And if you’re really, really not into fur-land, do keep them on the accessory side, be it on your bag – Fendi style- or on your boots, beanies or gloves.
Don’t add any kind of scarf if you’re wearing a fur coat. It just doesn’t add up quite well! The only scarves allowed in Fur-town are cashmere and silk scarves.
Do balance out your silhouette by wearing skinny jeans with a fur coat or jacket, since the bottom will already look oversized.
Do pair a fur coat with a very light dress if you’re going on a night out. Add some classy pumps and voila!
