In 1992, Evelyn H. Lauder co-created the Pink Ribbon and founded The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign, helping launch a global movement to end breast cancer. Her vision helped break the silence around the disease, advancing awareness, education and research. More than three decades later, that legacy continues to unite employees, consumers, partners and communities around the world.
This October, The Estée Lauder Companies Middle East will once again amplify its regional “I Never Thought” campaign, bringing together authentic voices to reinforce the critical importance of early detection and breast cancer awareness. Featuring the personal stories of survivors Stephanie El Khoury and Josette Awwad, alongside advocate Hani Soubra and breast surgeon and medical expert Dr. Houriya Kazim, the initiative explores diagnosis, breast health, community, and life beyond breast cancer to make these vital conversations visible and relevant across the region.
Real Stories. Real Strength. Real Impact.

At its heart, the campaign pairs regional experiences with trusted medical expertise to encourage women and their loved ones to know their bodies, prioritize their health and understand the importance of early detection. Beyond raising awareness, The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign continues to work with local organizations to help support communities impacted by breast cancer. Through partnerships with Breast Friends and Al Jalila Foundation, the Campaign helps extend its impact through breast health education, survivor and community support, and access to medical care for women in need.
On a global level, The Estée Lauder Companies and The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation have, to date, dedicated over $156 million to global breast cancer initiatives, including more than $123 million directed to groundbreaking research through its leading partner, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
With support reaching more than 50 organizations worldwide, The Breast Cancer Campaign stands as a cornerstone of the company’s ongoing dedication to women’s health, education, and advancement. Today, more than 30 years since its inception, Evelyn Lauder’s vision continues to unite employees, consumers, partners, and communities around the world.
Guided by the belief that beauty can be a catalyst for change, The Estée Lauder Companies remains committed to advancing lifesaving scientific research, broadening access to vital breast health education and care, and driving collective action to help realize Evelyn Lauder’s ultimate dream: a world without breast cancer.
In fact, advances in scientific research have provided women with more tools than ever to actively lower their risk of breast cancer and improve the likelihood of early detection. If caught early, survival rates are at an all-time high – 92% of women diagnosed with breast cancer survive at least 5 years. This progress reinforces the vital need for educational initiatives, especially focused on younger audiences.
