For Spring/Summer 2027, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons explore the skirt through constant variation, treating the familiar garment as a space for new ideas. Designed for freedom, the skirt remains the collection’s defining form, with a clean, linear and modernist silhouette.

Function and purpose become part of the design language. Contrasting Velcro can hold crystal embroidery, while magnified metal snaps become jeweled details. Crinoline, normally an internal component, transforms into a decorative or protective layer.

In turn, materials challenge expectations. Ciré matt and Re-Nylon are translated into pleats, while cotton is treated to resemble leather or suede. Crystal skirts recreate guipure lace, alongside floral prints in cotton and synthetics.

The skirt also changes through its relationship with other pieces, including sweaters, shirts and bra tops. Prada explores how one familiar garment can take on many forms, revealing new possibilities within strict parameters.
