For Summer 2027, Pierpaolo Piccioli explores Balenciaga’s couture heritage not as an untouchable archive, but as a dynamic language for modern creation. Drawing on techniques developed for the House’s 55th Couture Collection, the designer translates couture’s precision into an expressive ready-to-wear wardrobe for women and men.
Familiar essentials – including denim, shirts, T-shirts and bombers – are transformed through meticulous cutting, draping and construction. Stitching creates sculptural volumes, while bias cutting alters the relationship between recognizable garments and the body. Leather jackets and T-shirts acquire archival-inspired basque shapes, demonstrating how technical experimentation can redefine the everyday.
Throughout the collection, the human hand remains central. Soft, malleable shoes, organically shaped leather bags and artisan-braided sunglasses bring tactility and ease, while Calais lace becomes structural, opening subtle windows onto the body. Abstract organza flowers, filled with compressed air, introduce a playful yet precise approach to volume.
Comfort and freedom ultimately define the collection, with garments designed to move naturally with the wearer. The title references Aude Franjou’s Les Coraux de la Liberté, whose handcrafted forms echo Balenciaga’s vision of couture as a living ecosystem. Here, tradition becomes a laboratory of possibilities, giving familiar wardrobe staples new freedom, softness and meaning.
