The Italian fashion House has introduced Re-Cashmere & Re-Wool, two projects that give pre-consumer offcuts, spinning residues and cutting-room remainders a second life as high-quality recycled materials.
Re-Cashmere uses cashmere spinning residues and offcuts, including material collected at Prada Group’s Torgiano facility. Sorted by color to avoid dyeing, the fibers are recycled into new yarn entirely in Italy. The cashmere is SFA-certified, while the resulting yarn carries GRS certification and is used for men’s and women’s sweaters.
Re-Wool combines virgin wool certified to the Responsible Wool Standard with recycled wool and recycled cashmere, both GRS-certified. The materials are processed, color-sorted and transformed into new yarn for women’s trousers, jackets, skirts and dresses.
Made entirely in Tuscany and Umbria, both projects feature NFC tags linking to the Aura Consortium platform, providing material traceability and a blockchain-secured Digital Certificate of Authenticity. Prada says the recycled materials also contribute to reducing GHG emissions.
