It’s at the heart of Mexico City that Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria show took place, and more precisely at the Soumaya Museum. Indeed, the parade of high-end couture welcomed Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s guest of Honor, the Italian actress Sophia Loren.

Arriving for the first time in Mexico City, the show was inspired by Mexico’s rich culture, folklore and art and was attended by guests from all around the world. The Mexican culture was always something of an inspiration to the power duo, who always go back to Frida Kahlo’s exceptional style for reference.
Models were all donning opulent flower crowns atop their head, paired with lace dresses upholstered with gold embroideries, as well as sequined pieces. References to mariachis were also vastly abundant, dropping hints of the musicians’ typical costume. The cherry on top was definitely the last look, which was designed by the Brazilian Neo-pop artist Romero Britto.
