A pair of black vinyl trousers and a well-tailored blazer with contrasting black and white lapels; that’s how Givenchy’s Spring-Summer 2019 Couture show kick-started and it was one heck of a debut. There’s actually something very special about Givenchy – besides the fact that Clare Waight Keller has been actively dressing the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle. In fact, the House has recently been channeling a very modernistic approach, one that is tamed with an untethered knack for glamor and elegance and one that has lifted the brand to a whole new level of fabulousness.

And so the collection was mostly made out of subtle futuristic touches and a hint of smart chic looks. There were exquisitely tailored blazers, lace gowns and a whole lot of volume – shoulders wise. Midway through the show, there were a lot of bows –embellishments that have proven to be very constant and abundant throughout recent shows – scattered around shoulders and waists, while rainbow-colored fringes exploded amidst a fury of dresses, making for a beautiful statement. Meghan Markle would definitely approve.
