Fun Facts You Didn’t Know About Fashion Month

Ah, Fashion Month… a whole world of glamor, fashion-forward movements and a ton of star-studded events. It might seem like such a wonderful time and place to be at, but when push comes to shove, fashion month is a big bundle of hard-work, back-to-back shows and hectic schedules for designers, models and show-goers alike.

We’ve all dreamed and longed for an invite to one of those posh shows, but there’s more to fashion month than meets the eye. So without further ado, scroll below to find out more about the world’s most awaited month!

  1. There are designers who always showcase their collections in one specific country and there are others who hop from one fashion capital to another every season or year.
  2. There are also many fashion weeks all over the world – over 40 perhaps – but the Big Four Fashion Weeks are as follows: New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week.
  3. Designers, brands and big fashion houses spend over 6 months creating collections, setting up catwalks, choosing models and making sure everything goes according to plan. And all this for a show that lasts from 10 to 15 mins tops. But hey, worth the effort, don’t you think?
  4. Not all shows are runways. Sometimes designers or brands choose to go for presentations, where models stand around in outfits while viewers gather to chat and take pictures.
  5. You can’t “buy” fashion week tickets. The only way to attend the shows is to be actually invited by the brands, or to be part of the industry – such as fashion editors, reporters, bloggers, influencers and so on…
  6. We all know the shows are usually scheduled ahead of the season. But the reason as to why everyone follows this time module is to give buyers enough time to place their orders and have them in store in time for the season. Also, it gives time for magazine editors to prepare their editorial features.
