It’s only been a few days since the great fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld passed away, but his touch was ever so alive at Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2019-2020 runway show. The Italian house celebrated Lagerfeld’s exceptional creativity and timeless legacy during the show, where class, elegance and poise –a few of Fendi’s most common codes – were all the rage.

The collection itself featured finely executed tailoring – a collection which Lagerfeld directed till the very end – and exaggerated proportions tainted with sophistication and flair. There was a sort of beautiful peculiarity to the pieces, which was mostly shown through slightly brown suits outlined with white hints, big pussy-bows and seventies-inspired lapels. Fur coats – the House’s specialty – were by the dozen and were hence embellished with Fendi’s opposed “F” logo. The Maison’s high leather craftsmanship was forever alive and shining through a series of patent coats – from black to red and yellow numbers – and the pieces mostly featured knife-pleated midi skirts. Midway through the show came a galore of net pieces, from pencil skirts to tops and whatnot, alongside a slew of elegant dresses with structured shoulders.

The messages were endless but we only received one: Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy will prevail.
