Just like any Givenchy collection designed by Claire Waight-Keller, elegance was center-stage at the House’s Fall/Winter 2019-2020 Ready-to-Wear runway show. The collection itself consisted of fine tailoring, broad shoulders and cinched waists.

But there was much more to it than meets the eye. The designer was very generous on the pleated florals front, revealing a series of plissé floral print dresses – some of them had high-neck collars – and another parade of floor-grazing midnight blue dresses that had this flirty note shining in them. Double breasted coats were playfully embellished with leather belt bags, while plaid numbers were spruced up with colorful waist-belts. There was a beautiful play on the bouffant sleeves, making the collection home to many shapes and styles. Nocturnal looks included a series of silky midnight tuxedos with black lapels, strapless gowns – the red one in particular was to-die-for – and crystal embellished taffeta pieces. We can just imagine the designer’s muse Meghan Markle strutting her incredibly good looks in all of them!
