UAE-based Reema Al Banna is not one to shy away from strong and statement-worthy clothes and patterns. And so, the talented designer whose fashion line Reemami has already won the hearts of the region’s most fashion-forward influencers, lives by a few perky codes that could only be described as bold, fun and creative.
Her latest collection is in fact inspired from her newest obsession of wake surfing, a sport that is best described as the act of trailing behind a boat on the wake, without being directly pulled by the boat. And so, with water sports in mind, Al Banna created a 22-look collection full of the joys of prints, exciting story-telling and a whole lot of illustrations, from water-colored painting to hand-sketched drawings, alongside the brand’s own moniker fabric manipulation techniques.
So what’s the story behind all the wake surfing shenanigans? Only to make you feel like you’re literally riding the wake! Her collection translates into a concrete realization of this dream, where a vision of the sun, sea, waves and surfboards blend thoroughly well with traditional prints. The best thing about it? The looks are engineered in such a way that they can be transformed using multiple zippers – think detach/transform the sleeves the collar, the cuffs, tighten the waistline, etc…
