Louis Vuitton is preparing for take-off. Destination? Fashion. Indeed, it’s at John F. Kennedy’s International airport in New York and more specifically at the TWA Flight center, that Nicolas Ghesquière unveiled Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2020 collection. The airport, designed by architect Eero Saarinen in 1962 welcomed the world’s most elitist fashion endorsers, from celebrities to editors and everyone who’s anyone.

“I was lucky enough to have landed at the TWA Flight Center in the late Nineties. It was something I could never forget. This place was forgotten for twenty years, and now has come back to life. It’s like a sanctuary that’s been revived and seeing it enchant anew in a different iteration, as a hotel, is a great pleasure. It’s about rediscovering an uncommon place that is still a part of American heritage,” said Nicolas Ghesquière.

So why the TWA Flight Center, might you ask? Because it simply symbolized a place where dreams become reality, where a journey turns into discovery; and that’s what Louis Vuitton is all about, being on the brink of discovery and building unforgettable experiences with timeless class. And so, the 2020 Cruise collection brings together all the different cultures that make New York the multicultural hub that it is today. Because at the end of the day, with each voyage, one brings back a whole lot of memories and learnings. This collection in particular exposes the French House’s eternal relationship with New York, one that will forever continue through fashion and style. And so Ghesquière brings his futuristic vision to life in a series of sophisticated prints, fabulous embroideries and fine brocade – all of which reflect the hoard of legendary buildings. Each and every detail of the collection goes into the transposition of the memories built in New York, from the city’s brilliant lights translated into acid colors, Wall Street uniformly transforming into more poetic creations and so forth. The House’s exceptional savoir-faire explodes all-too elegantly in a series of colorful pieces and in smart yet controversially beautiful looks.
