It isn’t always easy to spot the inspirations behind a collection. In the case ofHussein Chalayan’s latest line, the “Moor’s Gaze” title was a little give-away, seeing as it followed his pre-collection named “Moor’s Chorus”, which was stirred by North Africa and Andalusia.
You may wonder how a Morocco meets Spain collection might look like? Desert shades paired with turbans and loose shirts was how Chalayan opened his show. As the display progressed, the British/Turkish Cypriot designer (who clearly knows a thing or two about cross-cultures) added a hint of Mediterranean colors to his creations. Taupe and denim-blue made an appearance on long flowing gowns.
Stunning bustier shaped mosaics-dresses paired with black ankle-sandals followed. Green trees inked attires while nets covered the closing peach gowns. Now, that’s what I like to call a peachy collection.
