Spring was in full bloom at Chanel’s couture presentation, as Karl Lagerfeld’s tropical garden house took over the Grand Palais – complete with giant origami foliage.
Flowers compassed the entire collection, painstakingly adorning everything from beanies to tulle skirts and bodices. Pastel, tulle and chiffon brought about lightness while cobalt blue, orange and pink tropical flowers added a bold pop. Midi-length pencil skirts, some featuring tulle inserts, jackets cropped at the waist and casually tied belts offered a fresh take on Chanel’s signature tweed suits.
Flat black leather sock-boots, crops tops and baggy beanies – all staples of a model-off-duty look – provided youthful extremity while pale faces and bright red lips, concealed beneath netted veils, sharpened the looks.
The finale featured a bride in a fully embroidered two-piece gown, beaded sheer fingerless gloves and a frothy wide-brim hat, as four male bridesmaids, each carrying a tropical flower bouquet, accompanied her down the isle.
