Right in the courtyard of the Beaux-Arts, the Lanvin models walked one after the other by the rhythm of Flavien Berger in “Fête noire”, springing a distinctive and individualistic aura. In a world where change is the only constant derivative, Lanvin proved once again that the men’s prêt-a-porter collection stands out from every other design. Sure, the Lanvin man is one of contemporary nature, but he also distinctive, untouched by the “go with the flow” attitude.

"I like garments which have lived. There is something very moving about clothes that tell a story," says the Dutch Director of the fashion house’s menswear collection Lucas Ossendrijver, who loves emotionally cultivating designs.

The Spring-Summer 2016 collection features pieces that every man wants in their wardrobe. It’s an elegant collection consisting of classic black trousers worn with oversized grey polo shirts - a comfortable and timeless combination - a collar of a grey suit with a zip closure, an ageless utilitarian parka with an asymmetrical arrangement of patches, pockets and a python print lining, and finally a suit jacket following the steps of a denim jacket. It’s a picture perfect luxurious Lanvin representation.

The question of a specific inspiration would go unanswered, for this collection revels in diverse eras and moods. You’re likely to find Lanvin’s signature sportswear in the black Harrington jacket with red sparkles, a rock look in a black patent leather jacket, a futuristic outlook in shoes, a retro-romanticism in a baggy aubergine suit and a long red coat. You’ll also find the XXL trousers with fabric belts, baggy or tight on the thigh shorts and military outfits softened with thin T-shirts and embroidered pink ribbon tank tops. Colours are quite dark, yet showcasing an element of surprise, where grey and black meet a dash of pink or half-animal half-plant prints.

Lanvin’s designs are all about accurate and stand-out tailoring. It’s actually all about white stitching on suit jackets, embroidered arcs covering the breast of a black shirt, pockets of classic jackets closed with pressed studs- which are also found on the collar of a black velvet jacket- and fringed outfits.

Evidently so, imperfection would be the core of Lanvin’s elegance. The designer says "There is no ready-made formula. We must let accidents happen." The luxury house would hence be home to a freedom of style and elegance, where shapes and moods see no limit and no creed.
