Did You Know …The Story Behind Karl Lagerfeld’s Ponytail?

If you love little fashion tidbits, then you’re going to go gaga over this: the great Karl Lagerfeld, the genius behind many luxury brands such as the House of Chanel, wasn’t always the white ponytail- white shirt-black tuxedo-dark shades kind of guy. In other terms, he didn’t always have a signature look.

Au contraire, there was once a time where the designer experimented with lots of styles. But perhaps the most intriguing part of his demure might just be this cold-white ponytail, raising a lot of eyebrows in the fashion scene. It seems that behind this hairdo, Lagerfeld’s world gets bigger and bigger! Having had long and curly hair for a long time, the designer decided back in 1976 to put an end to this hairstyle misery; that’s when the ponytail came alive to make him a rising fashion figure!

You'd think that the bouffant was always white as ice. Well, apparently so, our favorite designer used to harbor a grayish ponytail that was no longer making him jolly happy! That's when he decided to mix it up with a tad of white powder, hence creating what we know today as the famous Karl Lagerfeld look. Interesting, right?

Well Lagerfeld, we can't say your grooming habits aren't part of your blatant ingenuity! Keep on shining!
